In Rwanda, Pueri Cantores is the movement of young people inside the Catholic Church. It was established in 1957 in Rwanda and the founder is Father Pierre Boutry. Father Boutry and Bishop André Perraudin actively collaborated to start the community of Pueri Cantores. Pueri Cantores aims at involving young children in the activities of renewal of liturgical Music in the provision of worship and help them to grow up with quality of spirituality and humanity developed. It also promotes among the Pueri Cantores themselves, the liturgical song, of the Gregorian, classical and modern polyphony. As the Pueri Cantores increases in the country the national federation was quickly created. The official name of the national federation is “Rwandan Federation of Pueri Cantores or Fédération Rwandaise de Pueri Cantores” (its acronym is FRPC).

Pueri Cantores educates young choristers holistically; in order to achieve this, the federation encourages individual choirs to work closely with the parish and parents ’committee whose their parents.
